Covadonga Tomé, Xune Elipe, Laura Tuero, and Jorge Fernández will submit their signatures to the representative of the Electoral Board to "speed up all procedures".

OVIEDO, April 22 - The Podemos Asturies presidential candidate, Covadonga Tomé, urged the regional spokesperson for Podemos and spokesperson for Somos in the Oviedo City Council, Ana Taboada, to "step back" and not take the 4th position in the purple list for the central constituency for the regional elections on May 28, but rather the 7th position won in the primary process.

In addition, she referred to the mistake made in Andalusia when hurrying to register the electoral list outside of the deadline, so she proposes to the Podemos leadership not to wait until Monday and proceed with the registration of the candidacy this Saturday or Sunday.

In a press conference, after almost 48 hours of confinement in the Podemos headquarters in Gijón, Tomé stated that she, as head of the list, along with Xune Elipe, Laura Tuero, and Jorge Fernández, as the first four members of the candidacy, will submit their signatures to the representative of the Electoral Board "with the intention, precisely, of speeding up all procedures".

"We understand that it would be much better to register the list today or tomorrow Sunday instead of Monday. For that, we also ask Ana Taboada, who has already been a representative in Podemos institutions for eight years, to exercise responsibility and step back and recognize that the 4th position on the list should not be occupied by her, but by Jorge Fernández, who is the fourth most voted person," she emphasized.

Tomé claims to have "absolute certainty that this conflict needs to be resolved" and trusts that the situation can be reoriented with the regional and national leadership of Podemos in the coming hours.

"Not only do we not want to destroy the party, but we also want to represent it in the institutions when in May we are elected by Podemos Asturias voters, just as we were elected in the primaries to represent Podemos Asturias," she argued.

In that sense, she reiterated that the top four on the list, the four highest voted in the primaries, will submit their signatures to the representative of the Electoral Board, as the members supported them in the primaries with more than 60% of the votes, while also calling to "end the policy of sanctions."

"We know, we know, because it can not be otherwise, that Ione Belarra, the general secretary, is not going to abandon the people," she said, affirming that the militancy in Asturias is a reflection of the militancies of the entire Spain.
